NC HOUSE
Tim Merrick
A NEW DIRECTION FOR NORTH CAROLINA
Families are working harder than ever, yet getting less in return. We deserve a future that works for all of us. I’m running because every child, every family, and every neighborhood in North Carolina deserves real opportunity, stability, and a fair shot to get ahead.
Meet Tim Merrick
Tim has spent his career standing up for families, fairness, and the belief that everyone deserves a real chance to succeed. His vision is simple: a North Carolina where our children have more opportunities than we did—and where the American Dream is possible again.

BUILDING A FUTURE WHERE FAMILIES THRIVE—NOT JUST GET BY
For too long, we’ve been told we should settle for underfunded schools, rising costs, and policies that put corporations first. That’s more of the same. I’m fighting for something different—a North Carolina where:

Opportunity is real and reachable for every family

Small businesses can grow and strengthen our local economy

Public schools give every child a world-class education

Our roads, water systems, and public works serve a growing community

Healthcare is affordable and accessible because people matter more than profits
WHY I’M RUNNING
What We Stand For
01
A THRIVING, AFFORDABLE NORTH CAROLINA — Rising costs are squeezing families. We will fight to raise wages, support local businesses, reduce healthcare costs, and build communities where working families can prosper.
02
BALANCED, RESPONSIBLE GROWTH — We deserve development that protects our neighborhoods, our environment, and our quality of life—not unchecked expansion that benefits only a few.
03
OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL — Strong working families are the backbone of every thriving community. We will invest in schools, small businesses, and real pathways for families to get ahead—not just get by.
04
PROTECTING WHAT MATTERS MOST —
We will safeguard the programs families, seniors, and children depend on: fully funded public education, clean water, essential infrastructure, and affordable healthcare.
About Tim
Education has shaped my life from the very beginning. My mom was my first-grade teacher, my dad was my middle school principal, and my grandfather testified before the Supreme Court in Brown v. Board of Education. We grew up modestly, but we believed deeply in the dignity of every child and the power of public education to strengthen communities and expand opportunity.
As a young person, I spent two years living in Africa—an experience that broadened my worldview and sparked a lifelong commitment to service. Over my career as a chiropractic physician, I have worked on humanitarian missions, traveled widely, collaborated with NGOs, and represented my profession before the United Nations. These experiences taught me a lasting truth: strong schools, strong institutions, and strong communities are the foundation of a healthy society.
For more than 45 years, I have also been a small-business owner who has signed both sides of a paycheck. I know what it takes to meet a budget, support a team, and deliver results. I believe leadership begins with listening, continues with transparency, and succeeds through trust and collaboration. No one has all the answers—but when we work together, we find what works.
These values guide my campaign for the North Carolina House of Representatives. My focus is on expanding opportunity for families and small businesses, strengthening programs that provide protection and stability, and addressing the affordability challenges squeezing the middle class. I am committed to strong public schools, responsible investment in our communities, support for our public servants, and policies that help families get ahead—not fall behind.
I’m running because I believe New Hanover County deserves a representative who listens, brings people together, and delivers practical solutions for the future. I welcome your ideas, your questions, and your partnership as we work to build a stronger North Carolina.
